Lorna and I wanted to send you all a little message to wish you and all your families a peaceful time and hope you can celebrate as best you can. We know it is challenging at the moment, but just to let you know that we are here, and we are thinking about you all. We also wanted to let you know a little bit about what we’re doing next year.

It’s a really important part of what we do is to recognise that there are many, many different types of carers. I am one type of care but there are parent carers, from the LBGTQ communities, from different faiths, and religious communities. So, it’s important that next year that we provide as much information and support as we can, to everyone.

So, we are really excited that we are arranging Male Carers month in March, and we have some lovely interviews lined up for you. There will be an interview with a working male carer, and also an interview with Greg from a great organisation called Men Care Too, supporting male carers, which is based in Australia.  We also have some workshops planned, so, there’s an opportunity for you to get involved. One of those is going to be based around mental fitness and the other around mental health. So, we will share some details closer to the time, but we’re really looking forward to getting those out to you

Then in April, we are planning to have a focus for the whole month around the actual the physical and nutrition side of being a carer, and how that impacts on our mental wellbeing, particularly the ability to build emotional resilience and psychological flexibility. So again, we will have lots more details about that in the early part of the New Year.

From Lorna and I and our families, remember that you are not alone, and wishing you a safe Christmas period, and festive holiday break, and a healthy and happy 2021.
